Review LCD HDTV Vizio XVT3D650SV Big Screen 65-inch

Theater-like 3D On a Big Screen
LCD HDTV 65-inch Vizio XVT3D650SV

The Vizio XVT3D650SV may not be the first 65-inch LCD HDTV or the first 3D HDTV to hit the PCMag, But it is the first set that uses passive, rather than active, shutter 3D technology. While it isn’t exactly budget-priced, at $3.699.99, it’s actually quite reasonable for a set of this size, especially since you get four pairs of 3D glasses in the box.

Passive technology is similar to what you get when you go to a movie theater and wear those flimsy filter glasses. This set uses the same type of polarized glasses-rather than the heavy battery-power active shutter specs uses with other 3D sets-and they are very lightweight and comfortable.

When it comes to 3d performance, the XVT3D650SV delivers the goods, we found depth of filed to be every bit as good as our current Editors’ Choice, the Samsung PN58C8000, and crosstalk artifacts were minimal. Color quality was excellent and the picture remained fairly bring as well. However, background detail appeared a bit sharper on the Samsung set.

The Vizio XVT3D650SV is a good choice for anyone looking to bring big screen 3D a home- entertainment setup without shelling out $150 a pop for 3D glasses. Its $3.7000 price tag may seem high, but you get a lot in terms of screen real estate. Performance, and feature, and you will save hundreds on the price of extra glasses for friend and family. But if you want the best possible 3D picture, the Samsung PN58C8000 is still our reigning champ. –John R.Delaney and Will Greenwald.
